About Us
Hi, I'm the human behind Sewtaku!
I'm a college student in Orlando, Florida, and Sewtaku started with just me and my (now!) two embroidery machines. There's no big warehouse (yet), no big corporate team behind the scenes. Just my little family, a lot of thread, and a whole lot of love for what we make.
Two machines. One busy little family.
Hecho con amor
Where it all started
I'm a first-generation Latina, with roots in Mérida, Yucatán, Mexico, through my mom, and Utuado, Puerto Rico, through my dad. But my love of making things started with my grandma.

Grandma's little needlepoint flowers
My grandma was the first person to put a needle and thread in my hands. She worked in administration at a university in Mérida for many years. But her favorite way to unwind was with crafts.
When I was six, she sat down with me and taught me how to sew and stitch cute little needlepoint flowers. She made something that looked so tricky feel like magic I could make with my own two hands.
Naturally, all my Barbie clothes suddenly had flowers on them.
They were getting custom embroidery before I even knew what that meant.
Looking back, she taught me so much more than a stitch. She showed me that you can be brilliant at your work and still make time for the things that bring you joy, and that something made by hand carries a little piece of the person who made it.
That love of crafting never left. Sewing, crochet, knitting, you name it. If it involves yarn or thread, I probably want to try it. And every flower I embroider today has a little bit of her in it.
When I grow up, I want to be just like her.
A passion project that grew with me
Sewtaku started as a passion project, another way to make things I loved and share a little of that joy with other people.

Still small. Still personal.
Behind this shop is a real person learning, creating, and building something for her family. My grandma's little needlepoint flowers have come a long way, but that feeling of making something with love is still at the heart of Sewtaku.
Whether you're here for something bookish, cozy, or inspired by your favorite fandom, thank you for being part of this story. Supporting this little shop means supporting a student, a mom, and a dream that keeps growing, one stitch at a time. 💛
